A few announcements planned for the event

Yes, you read that right. VersusNG returns in 2022 with a tourney for all you FIFA fans but that’s not all. We’ll be upping the ante by having sitdowns with the players you’ve come to know and the underdogs looking to replace them.

FIFA 22 Tournament

Structure

To celebrate the new year and a fun-filled future, we will be hosting a single-elimination FIFA 22 tournament on the Playstation 5. With 16 open slots to fill, players competing in the tournament are encouraged to sign up as teams of two. The winning players qualify their teams for a future upcoming event, but more on this later.

Players will compete in a single-elimination tournament with 1v1 matches. This means every match counts in this instant death event. Teammates may also be required to play one another, so be prepared.

Match Rules

Matches will run for 20 minutes (i.e. 10 minutes per half) with 3-minute half-time breaks and draws will be settled by penalty shootouts. In-game teams that players select will also be locked upon registration, so choose wisely.

Here’s a summary of the rules;

  • Game Setup: 1v1 (Single game)
  • Settings: Standard
  • Match Duration: 20 minutes (10 minutes per half)
  • Game Speed: Normal
  • Match Conditions: Default
  • Match Rules: 3 pauses, for each player, allowed per match (max. 60 seconds each)
  • Player can only pause when in possession or will be penalised
  • 3 minute break to set up and prepare between halves.
  • No handball.

It goes without saying but teams found fixing their matches will be disqualified.

Prizes

A total prize pool of N30,000 will be shared between the best three players at the event. First place will receive N15,000, with second taking home N10,000 and N5,000 going to third place. We may even have something for the MVP, so make sure to bring your A-game at all times.

As mentioned earlier, our top three players along with their teams, will be seeded into our upcoming invitational, VersusNG Duos. It will be the first of a series of team-based tournaments held across a variety of games. Thus, unlike the Mega Game Night FIFA Tourney, VersusNG Duos will be a 2v2 affair. It will also feature higher stakes with a larger prize pool, so an early seed is not to be scoffed at!

We will have more information regarding VersusNG Duos as the event draws near.

Registration

Players can register by following the widget below or on-site before the tournament begins. Just remember though, we have limited slots so don’t get caught with your pants down. Also, make sure to fill in your team name and have fun.

Getting to know the community

Manning our commentator couch is VersusNG poster boy and FIFA Manager Nabeel “Bibi” Abdallah alongside Compere and Ayamba Meet & Greet MC, Mandrel Mykels. Together, they will be chatting with the players and adding commentary. Got a question for your favourite players or finally worked up the courage to challenge one of Kaduna’s greats? Then make sure to join Bibi and Mykels on the couch too.

Calling all gamers

Worry not, casual players! We’ve got Just Dance 2022 for you to boogie down to and Mortal Kombat 11 for our fighting game community brethren. We even have a no-pressure challenge planned for dancers, but that’s something we’ll be keeping secret for a little longer.

Mega Game Night will take place at Fasaha Cafe on January 29th, 2022. On-site tournament registration begins at 10:00 am, with the entire event running into the evening. Did we mention it’s free entry? So what are you waiting for?

If you’ve got a wedding, naming ceremony or something of the sort to attend that day, we still got you covered. You can catch our stream on the VersusNG Youtube channel here. Save the date and see you in two weeks.
